Banksia cunninghamii

DESCRIPTION: An upright native shrub with thin brown bark and narrow green leaves that are pale and hairy underneath. It produces golden-yellow flower spikes with dark, hooked styles from autumn to winter, followed by woody seed cones. It prefers moist, well-drained clay loam or sandy soil and does not tolerate waterlogging.

USES: Suitable for wildlife gardens, screening and habitat planting. Its nectar-rich flowers attract birds and insects, and it works well in open forest-style plantings.
